The RADIANT Study

The inaugural Australian Consumer Partnership in Research Awards showcased the amazing work that is being done around Australia to create and sustain collaborations between people with lived experience and researchers, and it was truly an honour to be counted amongst these incredible projects! But… oh what a night it turned out to be for RADIANT!!

Firstly, RADIANT co-lead and Lived Experience Expert, Ahlia Griffiths received the award for Outstanding Individual Contribution to Health and Medical Research. This award acknowledges far more than Ahlia’s leadership on RADIANT, as she is representing lived experience perspectives on an amazing variety of national projects. However, Ahlia is one of us, and we are so so proud to bask in her reflected glory. A million congratulations, Ahlia!!

Next, RADIANT was named Runner Up in the People’s Choice Award for Excellence in Consumer Partnership in non-commercial research. This was the public vote, and it was incredibly close – just a handful of votes in it. Thank you so much to everyone who voted, got their friends to vote, shared our posts on social media and generally flew the flag for RADIANT!

And saving the best til last, RADIANT was named the WINNER of the award for Excellence in Participant Experience. This means so much to our entire team, because it really is a testament to what we set out to do: create a vibrant and empowering community of people all united by the common purpose of addressing weight stigma in maternity care. Every RADIANT participant contributed to creating that community – whether in the online space, in your practice on a daily basis, at the National Consensus Workshop or in your advocacy and solidarity since! We was so proud to accept the award on behalf of everyone in the RADIANT Community, so thank you, thank you, thank you!

Thank you to everyone who voted in the 'People's Choice' the Australian Consumer Partnership in Research Awards. The public vote for the People's Choice award is now closed, and we don't yet know the outcome. But we can announce that RADIANT is a finalist for the "Excellence in Consumer Partnership in Non-Commercial Research" award.

At 11:15am (QLD time) on Tuesday August 12, we make our final pitch to the judges to hopefully win this award. The the winners are announced at 5pm (QLD time) on Wednesday August 13. RADIANT is in the running for a second award, for excellence in Participant Experience, and our wonderful consumer lead, Ahlia, is also in the running for an "Outstanding Individual Contribution" award. Both of these will be anncounced on Wednesday August 13 as well.
